Teen Workshop: Cowrie Jewelry

Using Cowrie shells, participants will explore the craft of copper tooling and the history of the small porcelain-like shell to create medallions.
Multimedia artist Donald Wilson will lead this workshop. Donald has been an educator in the Hampton Roads public school system for over thirty years – teaching in the City of Portsmouth for eighteen years, and then in the City of Chesapeake school system as an AP Art Instructor from 2001 until 2013. Donald wrapped up his teaching career as a professor at the Art Institute of Virginia Beach. Currently, he is a full-time artist working out of his personal art studio.
This workshop is designed for teens aged 12-18. All materials will be provided, and all skill levels are welcome; just bring your imagination!

Cost: $20 for Muscarelle Members and W&M Faculty, Staff and Students; $30 for non-members
