Community Art Day
Enjoy a fun-filled day of art exploration for all ages at our Community Art Day! We'll have art activities, live music performances, food trucks and more at the Williamsburg Community Building. Participate in our chalk art competition to flex your art-making skills and win prizes! Selected by our panel of three artist judges, our top prize winner will take home $500. 40th Anniversary Dinner
Join William & Mary President Katherine Rowe, Provost Peggy Agouris and Museum Director David Brashear as we celebrate 40 fantastic years of art and community at the Muscarelle. We’ll honor early leaders whose vision and tenacity helped to establish a home for art at the university, including Professor Miles Chappell, who cataloged the College Art Collection; Glenn Lowry, our first director and current director of the Museum of Modern Art; and Carlton Abbott, the architect of our iconic building. The Gallery Players, William & Mary’s chamber orchestra of 15 string players, will present a concert including an arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, originally written in 1874 for the tour of an exhibition of works by architect and painter Viktor Hartmann. The music will be accompanied by a slideshow of images from Muscarelle exhibitions from the past 40 years — join us on this walk down memory lane set to a stunning soundtrack!
