Music in the Galleries | An Eastern Mediterranean Musical Mosaic

Established in 1994, under the direction of Professor Anne Rasmussen, the Middle Eastern Music Ensemble welcomes students, faculty, and community musicians. It explores the styles and repertoires of Arab, Turkish, Persian, Armenian, and Greek musical traditions. The group has presented numerous concerts featuring guest artists from a variety of Arab and Middle Eastern music traditions and has concertized in the mid-Atlantic region, and internationally in Morocco and Oman. We are pleased to welcome them back to the Muscarelle. Limited seating. Please register to reserve your space.

Music in the Galleries: Musical tastes and passions of Edgar Degas

The William & Mary Gallery Players Muscarelle Museum of Art The William & Mary Gallery Players will present a concert to celebrate the musical tastes and passions of Edgar Degas. String ensemble works by Claude Debussy, Donizetti, Gluck, and Mozart will be featured in this homage to this enigmatic artist. These musical compositions represent the work of a fellow Impressionist, as well as Degas’ love for grand style opera and 18th century composers. Book Club FREE

Appalachian Music Ensemble Performance

MUSIC IN THE GALLERIES: Talon Silverhorn

In recognition of National American Indian Heritage Month and in conjunction with the 1619 / 2019  exhibition, the Muscarelle is proud to present flautist Talon Silverhorn. An Eastern Shawnee educator and musician, Silverhorn will perform in the gallery space where the works of art represent contemporary reactions to migration, colonialism and pluralism.  Presented by The Friends of the Muscarelle Museum of Art (FMMA).
