MBA, Harvard University BS, The University of Pennsylvania David Brashear has a long history of engagement at the Muscarelle Museum of Art. He joined the Muscarelle’s Board of Trustees in 1999 and served as chair from 2004 to 2008. In 2013, Brashear became chair of the Museum’s capital campaign, and served in that role until his appointment as the Museum’s Interim Director in January 2019. In 2020, he was named Director of the Muscarelle Museum of Art. In addition to his involvement at William & Mary, Brashear has broad experience in the non-profit and education world. He formerly served as vice chair of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, chair of the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, president of the Bronxville Board of Education, and vice chair of the WHRO-Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Association. Brashear graduated summa cum laude with a degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and subsequently received an MBA from Harvard. More recently, he completed extensive work at the graduate level at Columbia University, with a focus on architectural history. Brashear is an accomplished photographer and his work has been featured in several museum exhibitions.
