Art After Hours: Silver Clay Jewelry

Explore the elegant and versatile medium of silver metal clay for jewelry making! Metal clay is made of tiny sterling silver particles mixed with an organic binder and can be shaped into complex forms. When torched, the organic binder is burned away and the silver particles fuse, leaving you with a unique piece of sterling silver jewelry. Participants will be given one packet of metal clay with various sculpting tools and different molds to choose from. Once fired, cooled and polished, each individual will be able to take their finished creation with them.

Art After Hours workshops at the Muscarelle Museum of Art are designed for current William & Mary students with majors outside of Studio Art to learn more about disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and more. Priority registration will be limited to non-Studio Art majors and students who have not yet declared a major. Studio Art majors may register in the week preceding the workshop if spaces are available.

Art After Hours seeks to expand the reach of W&M arts programs and provide more students with opportunities to explore creativity and discover self-understanding through artistic expression.
