Admission to the Muscarelle and all special exhibitions are free to William & Mary students and faculty. Stop by during our open hours to visit the galleries, study in the Brashear Study Center, find meaningful gifts in the gift shop, and use your dining dollars to grab a bite to eat in the cafe.
Students are invited to attend the Museum’s wide range of events, from book talks and panel discussions to exhibit openings and workshops. William & Mary students receive special pricing for our workshops, so make sure to log in with your W&M credentials to unlock your discount! See our events calendar for details.
In addition to our wide range of community events, W&M-focused events are planned by the MUSE team and our events interns. On the events page, use the W&M Students filter to learn more.
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and sign up for our newsletter to learn when these events are taking place (see “Join our Mailing List” below).
There are many ways to get involved at the Muscarelle!
Volunteer to support our Museum guests and help execute Museum events.
Join the MUSE team! Museum University Student Engagement (MUSE) hopes to bridge the gap between students at W&M and the Muscarelle. They aim to provide a platform for students to voice their interests and plan events and workshops to ensure that the Muscarelle is an accessible and collaborative space for students. Follow our Instagram to stay up to date.
Intern with different Museum departments to gain hands-on experience and learn more about the profession through opportunities such as collections research, events planning, marketing design, and community engagement. Work as a student employee in positions such as gallery monitor and visitor service ambassador. To learn more about internship and student employment opportunities, search for us on TribeCareers or contact Kim Johnson, Executive Assistant to the Director, at kjohnson07@wm.edu.
Every spring, the Muscarelle partners with the Department of Art & Art History to host ARTH331: The Curatorial Project, a required practicum course for Art History majors. Visit the Exhibitions Archive to view past Curatorial Project exhibitions.
The Muscarelle has multiple rooms dedicated to studying original works of art. If you are a William & Mary student interested in making an appointment outside of a W&M class, please fill out this Individual Visit Request Form.
