Special Event
Join us at the Muscarelle for special evening access on the first Friday of each month! Enjoy the galleries until 8 PM, along with live music, café specials, art-making activities and more. Bring a group of friends or make it a date night. In October, we offer a special Family Weekend event featuring:
+ LIVE MUSIC by The Ben Phelps Project in the atrium (5:30 – 8 PM)
+ DOCENT-LED TOURS of Expanded Horizons at 6:00 and 7:00 PM, and of Haiti to Harlem: Toussaint L’Ouverture & Jacob Lawrence at 6:30 and 7:00 PM.
+ WINE TASTING hosted by alum Barbara Cole Joynes ’82 and her husband Stan, founders of Valley Road Vineyards, located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains. Sample their renowned Virginia wines then purchase a glass to enjoy alongside a gourmet pairing of selected cheeses.
+ ART ACTIVITIES inspired by our special exhibition Expanded Horizons: Native American Creativity at the Intersection of Culture & Art.
Free and open to all. All parking lots are open after 5 PM on Friday, so visitors may park in any of the lots adjacent to the museum.
