Mural-Making Workshop with Steve Prince
Join Muscarelle Director of Engagement Steve Prince for an intensive, two-day workshop to learn a variety of techniques for producing large-scale murals. You’ll recreate larger than life works from the Muscarelle collection and gain the skills to transform every wall you encounter! This workshop is designed for adults and youth aged 14+. Introduction to Observational Drawing Two-Day Workshop
Have you ever visited an art museum and wondered why there are so many pictures of fruit, flowers, dead game, or books sitting on tables or nestled in baskets? The tradition of “still life” spans the history of art and across cultures. Join us for two evenings in February to learn the basics of observational drawing using charcoal and pencil. The Tiny Art Museum Campus Center March 5 | 9:00 – 12:00 PM You are one of the most sought-after global artists, and your name is as well-known as spaghetti. Etch Your Sketch Youth Workshop
Etch Your Sketch William & Mary Campus Center April 26 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM April 26 is a WJCC Schools teacher workday. This workshop for K-6 students is divided into two parts. Youth Workshop: Imaginary Beasts and Stranger Things!
Students will explore the fantastical world of creating mystical, mythological, imaginary animals, beasts, and stranger things with oil pastels and tempera paint. We will explore the world of drawing and color mixing to make our artistic creations which we shall name in the end! Teen Workshop: Cowrie Jewelry
Using Cowrie shells, participants will explore the craft of copper tooling and the history of the small porcelain-like shell to create medallions. Multimedia artist Donald Wilson will lead this workshop. Donald has been an educator in the Hampton Roads public school system for over thirty years - teaching in the City of Portsmouth for eighteen years, and then in the City of Chesapeake school system as an AP Art Instructor from 2001 until 2013.
